    I own an M500 notebook and I flashed my BIOS but it did not complete. Now the only way to fix it is by replacing the mother board (the BIOS chip is micro-soldered).     Well they were update to get a replacement chip. Apparently the chip is micrro-soldered onto the board plus they couldn't even order one. The entire board would need replacing and the guy said he would end up needing to charge me over $350 for it (gateway said they could do it for $299 + tax) so...

    I didn't believe there is any software that will allow you to format a drive in +HFS (or whatever it is) from a PC. I haven't had aa chance o try it but I'm pretty sure OS X cannot read NTFS as well.

    I contacted Gateway and they said the chip was not removable. I ended up taking it to a good computer repair shop near by. The guy said he's had to replace BIOS chips several times before so hopefully he can just get one and rreplace it. I feel really stupid right now
