As was said earlier, don't move your PC around or travel with it (Unless you remove the card and carry it separately) and there should be no problems at all. The card doesn't need the lock, it's just there to help things stay in place after it's seated.

You can do this with a custom install. I only ever install the main driver and phsyx. All the 3d vision and HD audio drivers are useless to me so I choose not to install them.

Well, it could definitely be due to losing the silicon lottery, but there are other things you can try too. What are the temps looking like, and what RAM are you using in the build? There's a chance you might be using too much voltage, some people have gotten good overclocks at closer to 1.2v so...
