Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I am running a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise machine as my domain controller. Roaming profiles have been set up for several users, as well as redirected My Documents. Everything works exactly like it is supposed to until I try loggin on to another computer.
My wife has a laptop on which this...
Okay, I kow this took a little while, but I hit some snags with DNS. Basically, everything transfered to the virtual server, but when i tried to run dcpromo on the server with the OS, it said it couldn't find the DC. Whoops! Forgot to put DNS on the virtual server. Then it took forever for...
Thanks! I know what I'm doing tonight and tomorrow (oh joy!).
I hadn't thought of the VM approach. Thank you MorfiusX.
I'll let you know how it turns out. Though it sounds like it should work perfectly; unless I manage to foul it up.
'preciate the help.
Just to verify.
I could install server 03 on one of my desktops using virtualization software, make it the primary DC, rebuild my old server with the new HD and do the same thing. Then demote the temporary server and call it a day?
I'm not entirely sure this is possible, but here's the situation.
I have a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise domain controller which I want to replace the system drive on.
All I want from the old hard drive is the active directory. Nothing else.
There are several reasons I cannot just clone it...
You're correct...

The GS almost has the same through put as the GT because of its ramped up clock speed. It also uses a 110nm die. However, it just can't compare to the power of the GTs 16 pipelines (GS only has 12), among other...
Your computer just sits there and looks at you funny... :D lol j/k
Why? What kind of symptoms do you have? Any? Or are you just wondering?
I've never really noticed a pattern, CPUs are so complex and dependent on all the circuitry, that they may never show symptoms, but just stop working...
What I've heard is that E6 is just another revision for revision E3. Also, rumor has it that E3s are better overclockers even though the E6s are supposed to have slightly better power management (i.e. lower power consumption) due to transistor(?) placement changes.
Best O Luck!
Can you show me a comparison?
I was just repeating what I'd been told/heard/seen/etc... but if you can show me something to the contrary that would be great.
I don't want to go around giving people bad info through ignorance, you know? That's one of the big problem with forums in my opinion...
CS is Cable Select, it just means that the drive figures out whether it is master or slave. If it works in this mode, I would just use that.
A drive can go bad in 5 to 6 months from just sitting to long.
Do a S.M.A.R.T. scan, it will tell you for sure if the hard drive is bad or not.

That's a Socket 939, right? 'Cause if it is, I'd say that an Opteron is fine.
If not, (i.e. if its a socket 940) then just know that it will need registered memory which costs more than regular memory.
