    Swap HDD Platters

The insight you should have learned was to not do it again, and leave data recovery to the professionals. Happy Hopping, you're spreading misinformation; I don't care what you say "Seagate said."

    Swap HDD Platters

Hands down, guaranteed, once done, you will end up with a clicking hard drive in the end, and no data.

HDD Died, lost entire Music Colection

no, I have no clue at all :) Have you actually seen it happen? Or do you just assume the stuff you've read online? Yes, read/write head assemblies are typically replaced in clean rooms, there are *some* situations where platters can be removed due to dead/seized spindle motors. Explain...

HDD Died, lost entire Music Colection

No you haven't. *edit* Let me elaborate with some fact. The head assembly comes out before you can even get the platters out. Why would you remove the platters first, what would that accomplish lol. People need to stop spreading these data recovery myths.. they just make real data...

HDD Died, lost entire Music Colection

It doesn't make for data recovery, but it does make for pretty and shiny useless platters :) Data Recovery of 3.5" drives does not involve platter removal. Ever.

Failing Hard Drive, I need to get my files, HELP!

It doesn't matter what the software says it does or what its advertising... do you believe everything you read on the internet? I use MTL day in and day out, it's not miracle software, it's a good software package for cloning and wiping drives, and that's about it. MTL has been around for...

Failing Hard Drive, I need to get my files, HELP!

No, you are wrong. If the BIOS does not detect a drive, MTL will have no clue the drive exists. You are flat out 100% wrong. If you truly think it's actually done it, you probably just missed that the drive actually DID detect on the BIOS.

Looks like Virus killed my harddrive, --SABRE--

He won't be able to reflash the firmware on the drive, nothing like this is available to the typical end user or "pc tech" A virus won't reflash drive firmware, it doesn't have the capability to access a hard drive at the firmware level. WDC SABRE is a ROM family designation that the drive...
