First ZFS NAS build. Does this look alright?

So I finally ended up getting the system up and running — aside from a few things like shadow copy. I went with NAS4Free, where the other two considerations were FreeNAS and ZFSguru. I'm quite happy with the setup thus far. I'm currently in the process of rsyncing my assortment of drives...

    UPS for ZFS NAS

Well, everything just arrived today!! So it looks like all of these should work with the external COM1 port. I was recommended Network UPS Tools (NUT). I think I'll either be running OpenIndiana or one of the FreeBSD zfs o/s.

    UPS for ZFS NAS

Yeah, it's in the furnace room, but I had a 3com 8-port gigabit router and it sounds like a jet engine is taking off, even when the utility room door is closed and I'm on the main floor!

What software/drivers do you use with these and what O/S's are you using them with? Are you using USB or Serial or some cable that converts the serial signal?

    UPS for ZFS NAS

Is that because the SmartUPS is line-interactive and the Emerson/Eaton mentioned are online, or a more with the reputation of the companies (e.g that recall)? I understand the benefits of online over line-interactive, but that's at the cost of efficiency. Again, I'm just needing a graceful...

    UPS for ZFS NAS

I could live with the lower battery life. The only purpose of this UPS is to allow an automatic graceful shutdown. But I'm not sure what to think about a transformerless line-interactive UPS.

Right … The parts … It's always the parts! Der hintergedanke. Should have known to look for that.

    UPS for ZFS NAS

Thanks stormy1. I'll check that out. It's nice to get a few different opinions! I only found out about the Emerson and Eaton lines a few days ago and wasn't even sure if they had products that cater to the 1000W range.

    UPS for ZFS NAS

So you'd recommend a Liebert GXT2 or a Dell 1000W, or are there newer or alternatives I should also look out for used or refurbished?

    UPS for ZFS NAS

Transformerless, eh. Sounds like lots of digital circuitry that is more likely to fail. The price seemed too good to be true!

    UPS for ZFS NAS

It looks like the 120V tower LCD SMT1500 is the one I'd be looking at go with. The SMT1500RM1U seems even more costly for the rackmount version. The APC UPS seems to cost a fair bit more than its CyberPower counterpart and I understand that especially in the world of electronics, you often get...
