I am thinking switch from Dell 2407 24" monitor to Samsung 32" LE656 TV. I wonder if its worth it to get somewhat bigger picture since resolutions are almost identical (1920x1200 vs 1920x1080).
Well yes price is better but resolution is not. 1920x1080 is standard hdtv resolution (1080p) so if you want watch video on you monitor then 24" is better. I think also font size on 24" is very good (especially if coming from 17" 1280x1024 that has almost exactly same font size).
I find Dell 24" 1920x1200 (0.27mm dot pitch) quite easily readable. In fact i dont think i would want any larger fonts. Its ofcourse lot larger fonts than your 20" 1680x1050.
I just got my 2407 A03. No vertical or horizontal banding and no backlight issues. Seems great so far :)
Well correction: closer look there is vertical banding on red and blue color. None with green color and its almost undetectable on vertical greyscale.
Correction: it was horizontal...
Wow that 3 monitor setup seems nice. I need more desktop space so i can get something like that :) Currently this 1 24" takes all my available space :)
You could also use hdmi-dvi cable but i guess thats not something most ppl know about. I use it all the time with my projector that has hdmi input from my computer dvi output.
I have currently 17" 1280x1024 LCD. I have Dell 24" 1920x1200 LCD soon and it does have bit larger font size than my current 17". 17" 0.265mm vs 24" 0.27mm dot pitch.
In general contrast ratio of S-PVA panel is better than S-IPS but colors on S-IPS are better. Atleast thats what recent numbers from calibration equipment show.
