Would a firmware update with TRIM coming around Windows 7 time require a format of the whole drive?
Would it make sense just to wait for the TRIM update to minimize performance degradation until then?
Does the Win 7 RC support TRIM?
Far Cry 2, H.A.W.K,. Stormrise Battleforge and the later updates of STALKER Clear Sky are the only games that support 10.1, pretty sure of this. Some of the require current patches.
ATI is the sole provider of 10.1 as NO Nvidia parts support it. If you want to 10.1 you have to go AMD/ATI...
Not going to find many values better than that. Well done OEMs and vendors on pushing down the price of the 4890 already. I see it is popped back up again but it shouldn't be too long before those prices become more common.
The 275 has nothing on this card at that price point. =p
4GBs of video ram would definitely be a bit of overkill at that resolution.
While both are solid cards the 4890s are the smarter buy just based on performance and overclockability.

4890 isn't nearly that expensive. The 4890 is also about 10%+ at stock and upwards of 15-20% when overclocked, faster than the 4870.
The new cards are probably summer at the earliest. Honestly right now is one of the best price/performance periods in some time with both companies undercutting each other so much.
The 4870 is pretty much a steal, I don't think it is worth waiting months for a new card imho. Prices on the...
Card sounds like quite the performer when it comes to OCs. Glad to see that these clocks so many people have reported leading up to launch may not be all that inaccurate. :D
Quoted for truth.
Numbers will be available soon enough, just have some patience. I have a feeling these should end up as solid buys considering their price under NDA now and the fact that they aren't even "out" yet.

That is damn impressive if so. They reference that it probably is a OC version and not the stock base model but still, with those kinds of speeds could it possibly contend with the GTX 285?
Stock is 850/975. For a merely...
Same chip with a few optimizations, faster memory and core. Ive heard the 512MB version is about $50 cheaper than the 1GB. Should be a decent card, hopefully enough to topple the 285.
