Since I got 2 brand new RMA'd GTX 260's courtesy of EVGA, I tried to use one for physics but my stupid mobo wont boot. When I try to boot, the bios displays a message stating that I need to place my video card in the top slot if I'm not running SLI. I have a 5970 in the top slot and a GTX 260 in...
That could be it. You never know. I'm at 33 which I believe is the latest version. If I start to pull my hair out I may resort to downgrading just to see what happens. Although I have a nice and stable OC going here and I dont really wanna mess with that :-)
Now that I think about it, it shouldn't matter whether something connected to it or not. Irregardless of what I do in windows, it wouldn't impact my ability to post with it in the 2nd slot. Like you said, you have something connected now but didn't when you first installed it but I dont see how...
Yes, the ATI card is primary and has been running for days now. About a month ago I thought my first PCI slot was bad after my old nV card started artifacting so I tried putting it in the 2nd slot and got the same message and couldn't post. Maybe I should try with the dongle disconnected? I...
I have windows 7 and I know mixing the 2 cards like this is possible for the purposes of leveraging Physx on the nVidia GPU but when I put my nVidia card in the 2nd PCI slot, the bios wont post and displays a message that if I'm not running SLI, that I must move the nVidia card to the primary...
When you all say bottleneck, are you implying that there will be performance side effects or just that the CPU will be the bottleneck in the system? Just curious.
Exactly. EVGA's words "So, which card would you like to keep?" I said the GTX 260 and they said "No problem, let me get that going for you".....
EVGA has been very good to me.
UPDATE -
I just got off the horn with EVGA. Apparently there was an SLI check box in the RMA process that wasn't ticked so thats why I got 2 different cards. I didn't perform the RMA, it was actually done by the EVGA guy the first time so he didn't check it. I assumed he knew this was SLI...
I dont have that much time. I'm already running off a temporary card that I bought at the store that has to go back before the 30 days are up. In order to RMA, I would have to deal with tech support and all that. I just want them to send me something I can use in SLI. 260's would be great since...
I sent them both of my old cards in the same box. I had 2 RMA numbers/labels which I affixed to the outside of the box. I thought it was strange that they shipped out one and then the other. You would think that 2 cards in one box means that I want 2 of the same type of cards in return. Not sure...
