I have the Ultra D board and I love it. I haven't tried the SLI D board but the mod to SLI was very easy to perform. I cannot however recommend the NInja. There are just as effective and much more elegant solutions out there. The Big Typhoon is one (thats what I have) but the SI 120 is I think a...
If you are ok with modding the Ultra D to SLI (easy) you can get it from monarch computer for $110 plus you can pick up your opty with a $70 coupon from Monarch as well.
I feel your pain bro. I have a Opty 165 CCBBE 0610 that I can boot fine into windows and play around @3006 1.425Vcore but cant prime stable anything over 2850 without going into the 1.5+ range. I decided I was thermally limited and took the leap and popped the top. It did NOT help my temps. I...
I think it is pretty damn funny how alot of people are sooo willing to dump their AMD rigs and go gleefully running back to Intel screaming "I told you so ... they really are the best" and looking all smug. I built my first "Brand New" rig around a just released K-6 166 proc and have never once...
As the subject says I am looking for opinions for a 24/7 OC on my CCBBE 0610 Opty 165. I just started testing today but I do have a couple screen shots. The first is initial testing just to see what would boot into windows without locking up just to get an idea of where the chips was gonna be...
Unfortunately it is not stable at that speed. I am testing it now @2850 1.4 bios 1.37 reported and it looks good in prime95. It looks like core 0 is ok at 2950+ but core 1 isn't. Also I might have a bad mount on my HSF temps look about +10c higher than my 0604 at the same vcore. Might try and...
Initial testing on air just raising the HTT and seeing what would boot into windows resulted in this so far 0610 ... very encouraging. Booting at this speed required a bump in vcore to 1.425 bios 1.392 reported.
P.S. This is the CCBBE 0610DPMW that I reported recieving earlier today.
Ordered Sunday night 4-23-06 around 11pm cst delivered 4-27-06 12:10pm cst. Stepping is CCBBE 0610DPMW nice!!! Was hoping for the 0608 that I should have gotten when I got the 0604 but I am going to be happy with the 0610.
P.S. The chip shipped Tuesday 4-25-06
The 0604 I got from Monarch does 2.6ghz on air @ 1.4 bios 1.376 reported. I wanted more so just ordered a second chip hoping to get a better stepping. 0608 would be the absolute best 0610 would be great.
I might be wrong here but has anyone else noticed the complete absense of the glue compound used to secure the IHS? There is no way that an IHS removal got every single smidge of that material off. It looks like to me that the guy went back for some ungodly reason and tried to get all the "goop"...
Sounds like a great choice however sounds like you are a little fixated on 2.2ghz stock which is great but ya gotta know this is an OC forum and you WILL get encouraged to OC your chip. You could save yourself alot of coin by just buying the 165 and running it at 2.2ghz. I think all the Opty...
lol That is a very noble way to think of it ... fairness and integrity are great things and I am not gonna debate morality on an OC forum but come on 9 out of 10 chips are going back if not 99 out of 100
