    It's the other way around. The the monitor is trying to keep up with the video card. When you turn on vsync it puts a cap on your video card so the fps don't exceed the monitors max fps.     x850 XT perfect for Half Life 2 ! but still runs Doom 3 great ! 6800 GT perfect for Doom 3 ! but still runs Half Life 2 ! x800 XL or do you mean XT because the XL dosen't even come close to the 850 XT or the 6800 GT.
