to travbomb:
What's your opinion on this series--the 26" or the 24"--on their viability as a TV display. If fed with a 1080p source--and 1080p source only--can it equal or surpass the video output of, say, a Sony or Sharp 1080p display?
I'm aiming for the 24" as a Mac monitor and as a...
I wish travbomb would drop in here and give us some news.
I am also waiting for reviews on this unit. Although I am just concerned with how it will display movies in 1920x1080 resolutions. Meaning, will it be good enough as a computer monitor and as a DVD/HD display. I'm down to two choices...
Oh, I was not referring to a dvd player. A scaler can do it but it turns out the scaler model I have can only offer two output AR; the higher model offers custom output AR.
What if a device can output that 1080 and at the same time configure that device to output to 16x10 display, will the Benq then stretch the image or no?
Do you have an upconverting DVD player and use it to feed a 1080i thru the HDMI and see if it still stretches the image? I'm asking coz' DVD players have AR control in them.
There's nothing wrong with your statement. It is the IQ of the Benq tech which is too damn low to measure.
The display is stretching a hi def signal, that is, 1080 to 1200. You can see it and proved it. Case closed.
What were you using to feed a 1080 rez? Is there an aspect ratio control...
Yes, rabhw... try to play an anamorphic DVD with a 16x9 ratio like, say, 1.85:1---those won't give you any black bars if displayed in a 16x9 monitor. Let's see if the sucker will stretch it to 16x10. I have a feeling it will stretch only hi-def resolutions like 720 or 1080. But I could be wrong...
Well, since we are taking requests here, do you have access to a scaler? If you do, can you feed it its native rez and play a DVD in the HDMI and see if correctly displays the image? Highly appreciate it if you can. Thanks!
