k what happens is when I put the microphone in the slot, and then I check the microphone volume on the recording control, it says it's muted. so then I try to unmute it, but it won't let me, and I think that's the problem. (and it does the same thing on the other computers I try it on).

Nah everything is the way it should be.

Well after coming back last night, I found out my microphone didn't work. This morning when I tried it out, the headphone part can hear, but the microphone makes no noise. However, the person I was talking to can hear his own voice in the background when I talk, as well as his own AIM sounds...
