Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. I don't think the case is explaining your high GPU temps. My X800XL (with an Arctic Cooling Silencer ATI 5 Rev. 2) idles at 29 C, even when I lower the fan speed to 30%. While playing the Battlefield 2 Demo, it got to ~42 C.
My setup was:
Replaced all Tricool fans with 120 mm Nexus 'Real...
Basically you by having 2GB or 4GB of RAM, you are having more memory, but lower bandwidth. This is because the memory controller on the AMD 64/X2 chips cannot handle 4 sticks of memory while keeping 1T timings.
Therefore for most activities, 2x512MB RAM is faster.
While configurations...
But I mean you would run 11x250 vs 12*250 and 11*275 v 10*275 because you would not be able to keep the CPU cool?
I plan to use Mushkin Redline XP4000, which can get up to DDR540 with a San Diego 3700+ (11x multiplier). So you would think it better to go for 10x270 rather than 11x245 if I was...
Can anyone with a P180 comment on how good the rubber grommets are at reducing the seak noise of a hard drive (I'm thinking WD Raptor)?
Also, how good/quiet are the supplied case fans?
I've never done overclocking before, and I've got a couple of questions.
Besides the locked multiplyer, what is the difference, say, between overclocking a 3700+ and a FX-57. I think that obviously, the FX-57 would be binned for better quality parts, but how much of a differnce does this...
Can anyone affirm this?
Also also, are the Tricool fans supplied clear and translucent like the other tricool fans?
Edit: I've had a fair look on the net, and I don't think that Tricool fans are available anywhere in Australia, which is a bit insane considering that the P180 is now widely...
If a fan was mounted in the optional 'front' position, would it be useful for actively cooling RAM? (plan to get some Mushkin Redlines which need 3.5-3.5 volts).
And also, where can you buy Antec Tricool fans (in Australia)? Are they good/quiet?
I know that you can put in optional fans, but does the front slot (or any other) make it easy to have a fan cool your RAM?
Can anyone give a detailed review (or are u still checking the case out)
I've had some less encouraging news about an imminent release of the P180. I've emailed a few more retailers. One said that the case was probably 4 weeks away, while another expected it to be out by the end of June.
I've been hearing news about how Antec have begun to post some data about the P180 on their website, and I contacted a local supplier. Here's the response:
The wait isn't long now....
