Yep. Customers idea... even if there are about 5m in the raised flooring. But in case you want to move the rack to the next room...!

So far I had no problems with zip ties, just use a small side cutter for shortening them. Works fine, no one hurt...

Whoa, that cabling into the rack  If I learned something at work, it is to give some effort exactly this. "Just get the network racks done, should be no problem" Yeah, heard that before... Cu-networking, fibre, access control and some more. Just sort out, what you need, hope not to kill...

    HP SAS Expander Owner's Thread

According to the HP Part Surfer 468405-001 does not exist ... just a cheap fake? :D Back to the facts, -B21 is an option kit including miniSAS cables, -001 is a single part, so just the expander card. The expander itself is 487738-001, according to the Part Surfer...

That's exactly what I also want to build :) So I could finally get rid of the last S775-hardware in my second storage, saving at least a 10GbE-NIC for this system while still improving performance and saving some energy.

Highly intersting thing! :) Building a storage-only-enclosure without buying a new expander would be great.

That's what we said. We, as electricians, had to do the network installation, but patching was done by the guys who installed the phone system - and they said something like "Well, it works, so our work here is done!" and left. Un-f$§)%($-believable. Somewhere i got more photos like that, all...

On the 9260 - there's a simple solution... :D 9260 out, 9750 in, works perfectly. The 3DM2 assigns VPorts by the order the drives were connected - but it manages to show the correct enclosure slot and the drives serial. :)

On the expander and LSI cards... I currently use a 9260-8i and have some trouble managing this setup - all drives show up in the MSM but all are on slot 0 of the enclosure and there is no logical order how the drives show up. The drives are arranged by their device ID but this seems quite...

Well, since that setup isn't stable at the moment anyway you should consider removing the expander and check what happens with the controller only and eight drives. Just for clarification, the expander doesn't have any heat issues but is that the case with the controller as well?
