Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I second buying a solution from Dell / HP / <insert your favorite hardware vendor here>. Building servers for home use is fun, building servers to run in an enterprise type environment is not. Buy something /w real 24x7 support.
Sure its an extra 2k or so, but when the mobo fails at 5pm on a...
According to the Blu-ray Disc specification, 1x speed is defined as 36Mbps. However, as BD-ROM movies will require a 54Mbps data transfer rate the minimum speed we're expecting to see is 2x (72Mbps).
Mb not MB. I stream 1080p content to my popcorn hour all the time, it only has a 100Base-T...
She, like all users is lying. Either she did something stupid and does not want to admit it, or she did something which in her eyes is not relevant to the situation but would solve the problem if she shared it with someone more technical.
Sorry bit jaded, I have had three different friends...

I have had the same experience when transferring large files to the drives w/ the new firmware. I upgraded the SATA controller drivers on my machine and so far it seems to have helped ::knock on wood:
Between this and Seagate going to 3 year warranties I think my next drives will be western...
I ordered a drive from newegg on black friday, shipped with the SD19 firmware. I upgraded it to the SD1A firmware that is posted on the newegg site.
FWIW I have about 500GB of DVD Rips moved to it, and have streamed several, no studdering so far. I did not test streaming data from the drive...
Does it have an eSATA port on the motherboard? If it does you're golden. If it does not you would have to buy a bracket to convert one of your internal SATA ports to eSATA. Something like this would work:

Totally agree, I use a BlacX as well and love it.It makes transporting the drive much easier. I would recommend you spend the extra few dollars and purchase the one with eSATA, but thats just me.
I second the idea of an external 1TB drive. I backup all my music to a file server at my house. I then use SyncToy to backup the important files to a 1TB drive that I keep offsite. I keep the drive at work and try to bring it home every few weeks.
Sure its manual but it really only takes a...
