Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
The only reason I'm even considering this is because the backups are incomplete. I know, I know. I screwed up and did not keep up with them, and now I'm going to have to pay the consequences... I'm just trying to minimize the consequences to fit within my "moronic mistakes" budget.
whoa nelly. My comments were directed at that first paragraph, specifically this:
That series of statements is rather misleading, and my statement was an attempt to explain why. Yes, you mentioned access times, and you appear to own some SSDs (and thus may know personally how beneficial they...
I don't think most people realize how important this trait is for a hard drive. How often do you copy/paste large files to/from that drive (read speeds) vs. access individual files and programs? The access time is responsible for speeding up that process of simply opening/closing programs and...
I attempted an OCE with my 8-disk RAID5 array, and the process resulted in the corruption of the RAID (details in this thread). Ultimately, GetDataBack and R-Studio were not successful, so my last option is to send the drives/RAID card off.
That being said, the data's important, but not so...
They don't have disks, but that doesn't mean something couldn't come loose inside the device itself... Would you want the cashier to drop or throw your ipod (even if it's NIB) on the floor right after you bought it at Best Buy (the equivalent of a nice 'n rough shipping adventure)?
quick update--getdataback seems to be pulling most of my files, so I feel like something with the array should be correctable before I do a complete recover. Unfortunately I'm not versed in filesystems to know what to do :\
I'll try to contact Adaptec to see if I can squeeze something out of them.
Unfortunately, "Prime" status has nothing to do with packaging quality (other than the speed at which you receive it). I ordered an ipod nano a few months ago from Amazon (prime) and my package had the ipod in it and TWO air bubbles. That's it. No bubble wrap, no foam, just two air bubbles. I...
sounds like I'm SOL again... I bought this card off ebay in supposedly new OEM condition, and it turned out to be a demo card. What that basically means is that I have to stick with the original firmware (if I attempt to upgrade the card will no longer work), so 15336 it is!
The strange thing...
I'm using 8 WD5000ABYS drives and just added a WD5002ABYS (RE3 version of the same drives).
The array was created while using Windows Vista x64 last year, and when I installed Windows 7 x64 RC1 a few months ago the array was instantly recognized (and I've had no problems since).
I want...
I just expanded my Adaptec array (model 51245) by a drive (just doing one at a time for safety), and after the 6-7 day OCE everything seemed to finish without a hitch. At some point during the rebuild my array disappeared from My Computer (running Windows 7 x64). I restarted my computer after...
FWIW, I recall setting up some JBOD on my 51245. The drives showed up as "Adaptec Array" in HDtune, despite them being single drives.
I too wondered how to see temperatures of the drives themselves. I thought I remember seeing those details on an older adaptec card I had (4805SAS), but it's...
OK, Ockie, I'm done combating your personal vendetta to defend the seller. We obviously disagree with where responsibility lies in a e-commerce, and I'm not going to convince you otherwise.
I started this thread to warn others about the firmware "time bomb", and included a bit of ranting...
