30u11... I've grown to love this thing. :)
The colors are amazing once dialed in and the resolution oh man. I had to mess around with my lighting setup to deal with sub par IPS contrast levels, but its a fantastic monitor, especially in daytime usage.
No backlight bleed or dead pixels...
I used my Pioneer Kuro as a gaming monitor for awhile. Amazing contrast... but playing at higher resolutions can't be replaced. PC gaming on my u3011 just looks better.
1080p doesn't cut it. Plasmas have more grain to it... not that noticeable in movies but in games and desktop use, yep...
I don't think those local dimming displays are over priced just by the merit of how few good local dimming displays are out there. I wouldn't touch any display besides a Pioneer Kuro without that local dimming tech. So I was thining going huge Sony or one of those Sharp Elites.. They are both...
True but a 30 inch monitor up close and personal is way different gaming experience then even a 50 inch further away.
Does the haloing in the 929 bother you much? I was even thinking about getting the Sharp Elite 60 inch as my HTPC/gaming display.
Black levels on 30 inchers aren't going to be good due to the IPS panels. Really dissapointing really but... turn on some lights and it becomes not bothersome. I find it hard to game in the dark with these things anyway.
Antiglare... bad uniformity at peak white... none of these bother me...
Thanks for the help guys. I was buying one 30 inch right now and down the line look to add two more. After a killer deal, I pulled the trigger on a Dell u3011. And I see what you guys mean about drawbacks...
Jeez ya figured LCD tech had developed in the last 7 years... Blacks are horrible...
So after some research and gaming on my Pioneer Kuro 50 incher for a long time. I was wanting a bit more immersion so I am aiming for a 27 inch plus display.. preferably 30 inches.
I've been looking and looking and looking but I can't seem to get the answer. I want the biggest hi-res big...
