I'm buying a new gaming rig and display. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I bought a 16:10 1920x1200 resolution display to use for desktop productivity, but then changed it to 1920x1080 for gaming/media, would I run into any problem GPU-wise?
I'm getting a GTX 460 and I wanted to...
Yea I'm debating between this and a Hannsg (the newest one).
How is the pic on this asus that you've got? I'm basically just going to buy the one with a better picture I think IDK... then either 1:1 map or stretch a little depending on the one I end up with.
I'm not sure that's according to what I've been reading... I don't know how the GPU would affect this issue? I'm going to get a GTX 460 if it matters.
Also, as the link bearbear pointed out and as a Hannsg owner told me, the switching from 1920x1200 to 1080 on the Hannsg didn't really change...
I'm having a tough time finding the right display.
It seems like 1200 is a resolution that is being replaced, so I have to look to older models. But, older models don't have HDMI, which I need.
So I need specifically a monitor with 1920x1200 featuring 1:1 pixel mapping and HDMI with ideally...
I'll have to take a look at the Asus... where do you find info about whether a monitor supports 1:1 pixel mapping or the ability to display 1080 on a 1200 native?
I've seen from the other thread that the people who emailed Hannsg were told it did, when in fact it sis not map!
That is precisely what I intend to do.
However, I'm just not sure what brand-model would be best suited for this purpose (desktop productivity @ 16:10 and media @ 16:9)? I've heard that I should look for a panel with 1:1 bit mapping, but I'm not sure what that is or which panels have it, it...
For gaming at least, I've stumbled across and article for SCII that clearly shows how 16:9 is better than 16:10!

I wanted to buy a 1920x1200 and use it at that resolution for desktop productivity and then switch to 1080 for gaming/media...
A good read indeed.
It's tough to compare, because these 3 sites all use different test specs, and none of them test both cards...
According to these reviews (in the apples-to-oranges sense), the MSI card is anywhere between 5-10 degrees cooler but 2-5 decibels louder. I don't even think I...
Hmmm two throurough reviews but I don't see anything that would push me towards one or the other...
People have been saying that the Gigabyte would OC better but the review shows MSI Talon hitting 1Ghz
I don't know lol!
I'm actually considering a Hannsg model for my entirely new build.
The only concern I have is about the 1200 resolution. I would want to use that for desktop productivity, but I'd want to use 1080 for media (like SCII). The only thing is, I'm worried that it will stretch and distort the image...
