I'm trying to figure out why my Tcase temp is higher than my TJuntion temp. I'm assumming one is being reported incorrently, but which one is more likely to be the culprit. Here's my situation:
Tcase = 37 (32 in BIOS upon restart) & 55 (up to 62 with TAT)
Tjunction = 32 & 50-55
Ambient =...
Yup, I think if there's two things one needs to know before using this board it's that early and late BIOS versions are flawed and can create problems and (2) to keep your RAM at spec and try to undervolt if your DDR2 6400 ram is speced to run at above 2.1V. I say this not from experience but...
Jewball, from what I've read and experienced, I'd say 3.2 to is pretty realistic. Looks like the OCZ ram you chose volts between 1.9 and 2.2, so I'd make sure you get the EVGA board to volt it as low as possible. In my case, the BIOS automatically undervolted my 2.2V ram to 1.85 and I've left it...
My mobo came with P23 out of the box, so I've stuck with that. Cruising the EVGA will reveal lots of dissatisfaction with P25, though plenty of folks seem happy with P24. I'll stick with P23 until feel compelled to flash up.
For those waiting to buy this board, here are a couple of threads...
P.S.
For those thinking about buying the EVGA board, it's an excellent idea (if you haven't already done so) to cruise the EVGA boards. You'll mostly find people complaining about problems (those not having problems are most likely spending most of their time actually using their rigs to...
I know it hasn't been a ton of time since I built this rig (system went up on Feb. 13th), but things are still smooth. The only problems I've encountered involve my own noob idiocy: I put my Arctic Freezer Pro 7 heatsink on backwards :eek: (fan was blowing directly at my case's rear-exhaust fan...
For those interested in building a new C2D system with the EVGA 680i MOBO:
First off, let me say Im a relative noob . Ive built three systems: two AMD-based and, just recently, a C2D/EVGA 680i system. With all the issues surrounding the EVGA board, I just thought it might be useful to...
I'm going to try to save myself some trouble and grab a SP2 ready XP install disc from work (I bought the original license years ago when SP first came out, so my current disc is not ready for HD 127+ capacity prime-time).:) This is my first HD over the 127+ ceiling, so I was completely unaware...
Hi All,
Just built a new C2D system. My HD is the following:
Seagate Barracuda ES ST3320620NS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
After my XP Pro install, I noticed (I know, should have paid attention during the install format :frown: ) that the drive is being read as...
Thanks for the reply to my post. Yeah, I've switched my cart to the EVGA 680i version with the lifetime warranty (the EVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR, right?). The difference in price was like $20 or so.
As far as the PSU goes, the following Corsair was my first choice: CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX ATX12V v2.2...
Thanks for the concise and clear feedback. Good call on the RAM chip point: I'd forgotten to consider that. The RAM I'm currently considering is the CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) , which has several different revisions on the list you linked me to. Is there any way to find out what revision of ram...
Hi All,
Im planning on building a new C2D-based system and am looking for advice on my tentative build parts. All of the components below are currently available at New Egg and come in at around $2000 total. My component decisions are based on gaming potential.
All feedback concerning any...
