i got mine from benqshopper in early april (when it was $50 cheaper) and left a note asking for the newest firmware. i got a pristine monitor with the newest firmware. great experience; would deal with them again.
Up for sale is a Dell 2005FPW S-IPS 20.1" widescreen monitor without the backlight bleed issue in good condition. I would like to sell it for $200 + actual shipping. No dead pixels.
Also for sale is a 5 month old Intel DP965LT motherboard. It is very clean and works perfectly. $50 shipped...
1. the response time is fast. I notice no ghosting, even in fast movies and games. I can drag a window of text around and read the text while moving it quickly.
2. It treats the DVI how you tell it to- it'll stretch it to full screen, aspect scale it, or not scale it at all.
PC DVI to BenQ DVI, PS2 & Wii via S-video.
Nvidia's linux drivers are really convenient. I restarted the X server and it automatically read the new EDID information and loaded in 1920x1200@60hz.
The s-video input looks a LOT better on the BenQ vs the 2005fpw. It's not just the larger number of...
Hey, got the monitor today. Thus far, I'm pleased. 24" is a pretty big jump from 20". It came with no dead or stuck pixels and had the latest firmware with 1:1 mapping.
Here are pics of the 2005fpw and the fp241w in the same setup for the sake of comparison.
Sorry for the exposure...
It doesn't sound like they're working at all on a solution for properly scaling the Wii output (iirc it outputs in a slightly odd resolution which is perhaps the reason it is causing problems).
Shit man I almost held off buying an LCD before I came to college because OLED was allegedly "a couple years away" and it would be in laptops in no time etc. 4 years later and we're going to get 720p OLED displays "within 3 years". I /really/ want an OLED panel but I'll refrain from getting...
Two more days, allegedly, before it makes its way to New Hampshire. I'm concerned since it arrived at Bloomington, CA on the 7th and, according to the web tracking, hasn't left yet...
Tell me what sort of condition it comes in and what you think. I'm a pessimist so I'm half expecting it to be...
Enjoy the panel lottery with the 07 model. He said he's only mild gamer so I'd assume that he'd appreciate the traits of an S-IPS panel during the bulk of his use. The 05 panel is fast enough as long as you're not OMG TWITCH HARDCORE UT2k4 CS Q3A.
I don't take issue with your definition of 1:1 mapping; I take issue with your statement that without it, a 16:9 (or 4:3, 3:2, or other aspect ratio) source would be stretched to 16:10 to fill the screen. A 16:10, 1920x1200 display without a 1:1 mode but with a properly working aspect-scaling...
