Good idea. My first attempt at a Samsung XP941 installation last year was thwarted by a faulty mPCIe Combo connection. Inserting the mPCIe Combo into the motherboard socket is an extremely tight fit. In my case things were so tight that two of the pins got pushed up far enough as to not make...

NVMe can be very beneficial on busy servers, less so on regular PCs. Suggest you read the AnandTech review of the Intel SSD 750: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9090/intel-ssd-750-pcie-ssd-review-nvme-for-the-client

Good enough? That's an understatement. It outperforms the Intel 750 in most tests. See the AnandTech review here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9090/intel-ssd-750-pcie-ssd-review-nvme-for-the-client

    Silverstone SST-SX600-G 600w Gold SFX

I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about. My NCase M1 v2 has been running for months with a Silverstone SST-SX600-G 600W Gold SFX power supply (v1.1), and I have yet to notice it. Yes, if I put my ear right up against the filter covering the fan's intake I can certainly hear the...

And that's a very good thing. Word has it that secure erase will "brick" the XP941, so don't be tempted to use it.

Affirmative. Did not have any issues, but updated the bios anyway as I always do. Works fine.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I placed an order for some DemCifilters on November 4th @ 09:00 Capetown time. They were mailed out the next day and arrived here in Toronto on the 19th. Transit time: 2 weeks. (Rather sluggish for this day and age.) These guys know how to wrap stuff securely. Love the filters. :D.

They were and are priced identically. You only pay more if you want a spare top panel, i.e. one of each..

The next NCASE project: a Steam Machine-style case (indeterminate)

Thank you for that piece of advice, but I have had an NCase v2 up and running for months, and it certainly has an optical drive. Also, my internet connectivity is more than adequate. I'm just trying to point out that there are people out there without "fiber to the curb" who require an...
