Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Early 290's/290x's must have had really poor quality control or something. I ended up sending my 290x back to newegg for replacement two weeks after I bought it at release. Same issue, black screen crashes.
Have you tried limiting your FPS using the gametime.maxvariablefps command?
I was having similar issues with Mantle on my 290x using a 120Hz monitor and setting my max to 120FPS seemed to resolve those issues for me.
Does anyone know where we can get decent VRM coolers for these cards in the USA? The only one I've seen people have been using, is some part manufactured in Germany and only available in Europe? I looked at some of my old video cards to see if I could cannibalize one and take a VRM cooler off...
What's the issue here? Why isn't Newegg honoring your RMA replacement? Or were you looking for an RMA refund? I know when I purchased mine it said in big lettering 'Eligible for RMA replacement only'... I RMA'd my card with Newegg with 0 problems (aside from a wait time of around a week or...
The problem is that the long VRM heatsink that came with the Gelid has a sort of indentation and when layed out the heatsink doesn't make contact with the chipset at all.
It's meant to be used with the thin thermal pad that it came with from the looks of it.
I'm going to take the card out...
VRM Temps during real-world gaming (BF4, DayZ, Arma3, etc) will reach around 62-65C MAX. Running furmark VRM1 maxes out at ~100C. VRM2 is usually lower at around 55-60C during benchmarks. I have yet to see the core drop below 940Mhz which is AWESOME, before switching to the aftermarket...
Just installed the Gelid cooler, I would suggest following the pictures/instructions over at this thread- on overclock.net.
Instead of using the crappy tape adhesive for the RAM I purchased a vial of AS Thermal Adhesive and used those on the RAM and VRM2 heatsinks.
So far under furmark...
Just a follow up post, I'm pretty much decided that my newly received RMA replacement card is functioning great. I have not tried the older driver but the newer one that addresses black screens has been doing its job (although I did not test with older drivers to induce the black screens, just...
Just received my RMA 290x from Newegg. So far so good :) haven't had any blackscreen freeze ups. I've installed the latest beta driver (9.4). I did notice my benchmark scores go down a bit, however.
I'm having a similar problem with the new driver though, when I go into the performance/amd...
Jesus, who did you buy your card from? I went with NewEgg and bought an RMA return label through them, shipped out on Thursday and hasn't even been received yet.. Sounds like I'll go through your retailer next time.
Just saw a report that someone recieved their RMA replacement card and it has no issues-

Hopefully others will chime in here with their information soon :D
I probably won't have my replacement until around the 22nd (if not...
