Well, like I said, I didn't have the ability to pay cash right now, but wanted to get it before the end of the year.
12 months no interest rocks, especially when I already have a BB card.
I configured a 9300 with roughly the same setup, and came out about it did come out about 150 less...
I need a laptop now, except that I'm not in a position I can afford to pay cash now.
But, I do have the rolling I-have-12-months-or-more to pay without interest at Best Buy. I've been comparing two laptops:
Gateway 3700+ 1gig Ram, x600(128mb)
and
Pentium-M 1.73 512 Ram x700(64M)...
Most of the time they'll tell you that the sales prices are better than their discount on laptops and desktops -- it's the accessories and such that they get 50-70% discounts on.

Your local Best Buy has the Netgear 4 port with 802.11g for 19.99, and they throw in a free 802.11g card for your laptop. The best buy is 79.99 before two 30 dolalr rebates. I just bought this last night and it's working great, was able to browse the net from anywhere...

I haven't tried the driver clearner program though, where do I get that? (I use an ATI pcie vid card)
I have installed my Seagate 160gb hard drive in the sata1 port. This is part of the Nvidia ports.
My wife has an identical drive in a gigabyte nf3 ultra motherboard, and her windows (clean install) boots in about half the time mine does after I installed the latest nvidia drivers, including...
