That's the thing, nothing's really preventing it. My best guess is an error on EKWB's side, because they only checked visually for compatibility, and the waterblock was first made for 680s whereas my card is a non-reference 770.
I just tried double stacking the 0.5mm pad (didn't see your post...
Indeed I could for the part that's shown there, but for the other part I'm unsure if it connected or not (when I removed the block, it didn't stick on it like the red-marked ones did), there's clearly not enough 1.5mm pad enclosed with the block, so I'm making sure before moving further and...
Indeed, the manual says that for my brand I need to put 0.5mm thermal pads, and I see it's obviously not enough though...
The manual is clearly meant for GTX680 gainward cards but they still say it's the block I need for my GTX770 gainward.
edit:
Is it really advisable to use 2, or even 3, "different" thermal pads on the same component just to get it to connect to the waterblock? Will this properly cool what it's supposed to?
Hey tonyftw,
Thanks for taking the time.
I'm absolutely on the same page as you for the second question, however as I said, the 0.5mm thermal pad does not connect to the waterblock. There's something like a millimeter gap between them.
And it's precisely that, that worries me. They said...

Today I tried mounting the EKWaterBlocks EK-FC680GTX+ waterblock on my Gainward GeForce GTX770 Phantom 4Go GDDR5 (2968).
When I arrived at Step 4, verifying if contact is made where I put the thermal pads, I encountered a problem.
On the...
