It pretty much is. I'd like to go with an XFX, but I just can't get a lock on one. The warranty period seems to be the same as the Gigabyte (3 years). That and I'd be spending more money if I went over to an XFX, which would cut into the budget of acquiring an aftermarket cooler.
Hey guys,
Sorry for the rogue thread here, but I'm looking for some input on an ASUS 5870 (EAH5870). I had to return my Gigabyte 5870 and the supplier is willing to give me a full refund, but they also mentioned they have this ASUS card available. In my opinion, right now, anything is...
echn111, good to know. Thanks for the heads up. I kind of figured, after looking at reference PCB pics, that any VRM cooling solution, namely the VRM-R3/4, would not be compatible.
I'm not quite out of the woods yet Spare-Flair ;) It is with the reseller now, but I'm at the mercy of...
So you're going to laugh at this one....
Now, I haven't mentioned this but I've been seeing a number of GSOD's. Alright, sure, it's a known issue with the 5870's or 5xxx series in general. I can deal. What was concerning is my Gigabyte didn't only GSOD but had issues playing back mpg's and...
Very interesting. That's a close fit though eh? I'm curious. The mounting points around the CPU seemed to be aligned with the reference 5870. My Gigabyte does however lack additional mounting points if you look at the pictures. I'm wondering if most coolers, like the Musashi, simply...
I just hope they changed the cooler and not the rest of the card. I'll do some more research and see what others are doing with their GV-R587UD-1GD.
I do have another question though. Is my 5870 running hot? I hear people idling at mid 30's. Ever since I got the card, it idles at 47/48C...
Does the Twin Turbo Pro not take care to cool the VRM?
Whoa, just looked at the price for the TRad2/VRM-R3 combo. That's a hefty sum for a cooler. Nearly $100 CAD after tax. Would the VRM-R3 have enough clearance from my Notcua NH-U12P SE2?
I'm leaning towards the Twin Turbo Pro myself. I just want to make sure that my Gigabyte 5870 will be compatible with it. It already has a non-reference cooler on it, but does that mean the card's layout is different from that of say an XFX or ASUS variant? I'll have to do some digging.
I have a Gigabyte 5870 (GV-R587UD-1GD) and I'm wanting to replace the custom cooler they've put on it. It's just too loud for me.
I'm not sure but because the cooling solution on the GB is different from the standard ATI cooling solution, will I see any issues with compatibility with other...
Don't think it is. I've put the clocks back to 3.7ghz (what you see in the pics) so I'll see if it does it again. I pushed down on all connections from PSU to components (i.e. videcard, mobo, etc), so I'm thinking it could have been a weak seated connection or the GPU specifically wasn't...
So, I've been running stock speeds since posting this and haven't ran into that issue again, so it's most likely my OC set up. I've reverted to my original OC as I've double-checked my connections, etc, so we'll see if it happens again.
Here are my parameters (let me know what you think)...
Hey guys,
Running a GA-P55A-UD3 with i5 750 @ 3.70.
I've had no problems over the past couple of weeks but today I turned on my rig and my monitors didn't light up (in standby mode). My hard drives were working however and it looked like it was booting. After a half a minute, system...
