When I can come up with a new inside pc setup that can run my 2GB of DDR SDRAM and get a 9600 to go with it for a good low cost... i'm going to jump on that.
Until then, I'll just keep looking.
Well I got home and tested more on it. After a full load in wow, the card was not over heating at all.
Sadly, this card was almost identical to my 6600GT in graphics.
I put it up on a aquamark3 test:
6600Gt scored a 44k.... the 7800GS scored a 49k
This is not worth 120 bucks...
Going to try the rivatuner like you suggested.
Also going to try running wow on it while it is installed and see if it locks me up.
Last chance for all this. If it doesn't work... I've already got the RMA approved from EVGA and I'm shipping it back for a refund and waiting till WoTLK and...
the big problem is the fact i have no other agp slotted computer to try this on.
and yes, the 6600gt runs fine even under a full load in wow
gets up to around a 80 to 89 temp, but thats normal.
i havent tried the 7800 yet in wow, i was lucky to get the thing installed this morning...

Ok, so I motivated myself to do this...
200C
The program i was running measured it at 45C for about 5 minutes. Then it jumped to 200C and my monitor cut off.
I shut down the comp, reseeded the vid card, fired it up again. This time it registered at 200C from the start. 1 minute later the monitor went blank again.
The fan...
Exactly. more cash to keep sending something back. But you forget that you pay to get it sent to you. For each time something doesn't work, you don't lose 7-8 bucks, you lose around 14-16 bucks. Unless you have found a system that grants you a refund of the card plus the shipping you paid...
well, i'm concerned if this card will even work with my mobo if i just go with it
half the problem with the evga card that i didnt like.. was the fact that it wouldnt even fit in my agp slot for some reason. now i'm pretty worried about it. i'm paying to much money sending this crap back and...
well my god....
thanks for the info guys.
guess i'm just going to tell her if she wants an upgrade.. we'll have to save.
the processor, mobo, vid card, and PSU... it going to cost a pretty penny.
not good
Well the vid card heating up to much is the 2nd issue. The first one is the fact that when you go into shattrath or in a AV... you get around a 10 to 13 fps. I want to game to be fun for her as much as when she looks over at my screen. I get around a 60fps and graphics turned all the way up...
Do you guys think I would be able to keep that AMD process and upgrade the mobo to PCI? I had also bought new RAM about a year ago. So I would assume I'm going to have to get a mobo that would accomidate that as well.
We just spent over 700 bucks on my rig I put together and I couldn't be...
This is my mobo specs. Is there anyway anyone can confirm this card will work with this mobo? I can't handle buying a card and sending it back anymore.
Thanks for the information so far guys.

I was wondering if any of you knew a good AGP vid card besides an evga. (long story with that company and their grief, so I'll spare you that) My wife plays Wow and we really don't want to buy a new mobo with all the trimmings. So I figured we could buy a vid card upgrade from the 6600Gt she...
yep, going to cut my losses and chalk this one up to a newegg restock fee victory, along with shipping charges.
probably ended up paying well over 150 bucks for a 84 dollar vid card..
