Help building new PCs for design department!

We do, but we would get monitors that are better for our needs. The monitors we use now do not show full RGB color. Other monitors like the MacPro monitor or the Asus PB278Q better represent color and are better for our needs

Help building new PCs for design department!

I'm not sure if I mentioned this earlier or not, but we have actually received a MacPro to test out for our needs. It has a Xeon 3.5ghz 6core processor, 16gb ram, 256gb ssd, and dual firepro d500s. We're making sure we check all options instead of going with just one straight away, so I've...

I'll suggest the battery back-ups to IT as an option. thanks. considering our building has had a fair share of incidents, it helps..

Help building new PCs for design department!

I'm actually one of the designers :) The IT department is pretty good when it comes to repairs. I'm not too sure how they feel about a manu repair service. The reason for this entire thread is because we were tasked with coming up a system that is built to our needs. The common thought...

wow thanks for the thorough reply! In terms of longevity, these are system that should ideally last us at least 5 years, if not longer. Of course we will upgrade in the future if need be. That's one thing the MacPro doesnt offer us.

Help building new PCs for design department!

This build will potentially be for the whole department (20 designers). The hardware we are on now varies by designer. Unfortunately there is no mold to cast from. The PC I work on has a Xeon 5640, Quadro (not sure the model, not in the office right now, but it's older valued around 300), 12gb...

Help building new PCs for design department!

Hey guys! I've come to you guys before for help with a build, so I'm hoping you can pull through for me again! This time, I have a pretty awesome request.. I currently work in the design field in a medium sized corporate setting. We're looking into getting new hardware for our designers...

    Should I replace my 6870?

is there a reason why you would never touch it? I understand non-reference cards can overclock better, but looking at the deal on that Power Cooler now, it's at $269.99, $249.99 after rebate. Comments on it have been pretty positive, and people have been able to overclock it pretty well...

    Should I replace my 6870?

you've got a point, but no matter how well my card plays the games, I will never be able to max out the settings or atleast reach the settings of a higher end card. Graphics aren't everything, but they sure count for a lot. Thanks for the help guys! I have some contemplating to do!

    Should I replace my 6870?

I just read a benchmark on the Tahiti 7870. Seems like a pretty solid card. I see Newegg has it for about $250. Would it be worth it to bump up to $300 for this 7950?

    Should I replace my 6870?

I bought my current XFX 6870 in late 2011. It's been serving me pretty well, although I haven't really pushed it very far. The most intense game I've played on it has probably been Metro 2033 which it handled pretty well. That said, I just recently upgraded everything else. I spent around...

    $600 build - gaming/cad

Is that 520w psu powerful enough for everything? Also if I want to overclock later on down the road, would I have to upgrade the psu? I never really how much wattage is needed when building a pc. It's something I try to understand, but just fail to. Also, what exactly makes that case a...
