I got a cable just like this directly from asus. i like it more than the stock adapter as it’s much slimmer in profile and allows me to close my case. It’s been rock solid, no issues. Pc is on 24/7 and I have been gaming daily on it so the temps have been cranking.
Yea. I was afraid at first. To be honest I did some back to back testing with my 3080 and my 3080 was drawing just as much as my 4090 but running much hotter so I’m not sweating the power anymore.
to further qualify- I meant poor connection which includes overstressing the connector at the connection point. That would have been my case if I tried to close the side panel with the original adapter (picture attached). Or it would have snapped the connector on the gpu itself. That said...
I have a seasonic focus gold 850 watt + i9 18500k + asus TUF OC 4090. All at stock settings. Been stress testing it with cp2077 at 4k ultra RT (psycho) settings. I haven’t had a single issue with stability. Seems like the max power draw from gpu when playing is about 350 watts or so.
I’m...
Yes. I figured that a poor connection was likely the issue. That said that’s more of a user competence issue rather than equipment issue.
However in my case I just wanted to see which would be better. The 1->4->2 connector or the 1->2 connector. I’m leaning on the latter.
However it seems...
Yea. Which doesn’t seem to bad IMO. But I don’t know what the temp of other “connectors “ should be. But assuming that a “melting” / soon to be melting connector should be much higher.
I also have been in this config for the past couple of days. With a few 3+ hour gaming sessions without any...
For further peace of mind, I played cp2077 for 30 min and then took my thermal cam and aimed it at the connector (when case was open. Gun can’t measure through glass) and got a max temp of 101F under load.
Here to report that I have coil whine on my 4090 asus TUF OC. That said with my case cover on I barely hear it over my case fans. So it might be worse if you are going for a “silent” as some people have mentioned earlier. But for a standard air cooled build with a closed case you should be fine.
Actually. I have a tangential question. I have a 3 + year power supply. A seasonic focus gold 850 watt ps. With an asus TUF OC 4090. Stock i had 2 cables that plugged into the PciE port on the power supply end and then a 1->2 adapter that I then plugged into the 4 plug to 16pin adapter.
I had...
wow. awesome deal guys. jump on it. it's 150$ cheaper than I paid for mine.

This is your opinion.all the latest blockbuster movies im watching on my monitor fill it perfectly, with no blackbars. good luck finding a 36" 16:9 (which will have similar content size) 1440p monitor let alone a 4k for < $1000. if you do, especially a 4k, i would have bought it already.
