    I took a chance and set them up using 3.0 and all's well. Any idea on how to view their, "Welcome to Companion 5" DVD? Its Video files have the suffixes, BUP, IFO, or VOB. Thanks, Kerry

    The Bose website, as does Amazon's description, says the Bose Companion 5 2.1 are USB powered, only the base module is powered by 110.

    Thanks Jordan12, I'm wanting to use the 3.0 port because some posters, elsewhere, have said that with 2.0 they've experienced sound problems due to too many other devices using power. Does this sound right? Bose doesn't support Windows 8 (on its website) nor does it mention USB 3.0. Kerry
