I fail to understand why these are "sold" for so much money... lol. There is literally nothing this card offers that you can't get with a much better 6800GT AGP card, and much quieter.
Mostly Nostalgia... last fall I build a Retro PC around my still working Voodoo 3 3000 AGP I bought back in high school... lol. Was fun to revisit some glide games on the real hardware, voodoo's dithering really was something else that emulation simply can't recreate or touch. Plus, it was...
This right here. Microcenter really has a "no questions asked" type of return policy if you are within the return window. I have never had an issue. Also, why I buy all my monitors there... I have on several instances returned monitors more than once to get one with 0 dead pixels and no...
Yeah, probably because they do not want a rush of people, but at the same time, I'm not going to go unless I KNOW I get can the product. Funny story, back when I got my 3090 there you could view the source of the webpage and find the quantity in stock that way... ;) There was code on top of...
They started here in Columbus, Ohio... and I can confirm the store is almost always packed :) They price match online pricing too from Amazon or Newegg, it's so nice. I give them all my PC business unless they simply don't have what I need.
Interestingly, I have my Voodoo 3 3000 paried with a AMD Athlon XP2800+ and it performs worlds better than it did back when I actually used it on a Pentium II & III back in the day. It's an unrealistic CPU to use with it, but absolutely free's it from any limitations. I run it overclocked at...
Heat maybe? I don't know, I would think vcache on both would be ideal and no need for software solutions past wanting to stay on a single CCD. Not sure how 7000 series does with cross CCD comms in general in games, but when I went with an all core OC on my 5950X, cross CCD in games does not...
If you read the article, it's really just highlighting it being the first card for gaming having hardware T&L vs. software (and thus the CPU). I think most of us "old time" gamers had a Voodoo card at some point before nvidia took off. The article is focused mainly on traditional hardware...
It forces teamwork... but I had no clue what it was about until I was trying to cap and had to ask WTF was going on... lol. Teamwork is also why I recently suggested they put shields around the flag as well if the team generator is online to slow someone to a crawl. Tribes 2 had that, and I...
I mean, I loved Tribes 2 back in the day, but I have no illusions about it ever returning. I also enjoyed T:A quite a bit as well. I enjoy this game for the fast-paced movement and CTF action. I can see it probably getting old after a bit, but not before I got my $17 worth out of it. It is...
For sure... OC'ing is always luck of the Silicon Gods as we all well know over the last 30+ years... lol. :) If you can keep your GPU at 100% with much less stutter, you are doing better already with your configuration. I lucked out with a 4.8Ghz OC w/ 1.35V on a 5950X I think... lol...
No, I mean turn off that PBO garbage and legit OC via voltage and multiplier the "old school" way. For example; 45x multiplier with 100 BCLK at say 1.25Vcore or something. Your milage my vary obviously, 1.35Vcore is the "accepted" 24/7 max voltage on the 5xxx, but you could probably go higher...
