Good points. Horizontally is a NO. Thanks.

Naive question: can you put the slimline horizontally - do you see any problem with this? Obviously provided that there is enough space above/below it to allow for good air circulation. I want to integrate the slimline with my hifi gear, and putting it horizontally somehow helps to make it...

Yours have HDCP, as you well said, but Nvidia website does not mention it in their 8400GS description. Could that be that it is an additional feature included by XFX in their cards?

Probably not, as it is not mentioned in the description of this slimline model, but it does say that it supports Blue-Ray, HD DVD and Ms DirectX10. Surprisingly, there is no mention of 8400HD in Nvidia's website.... so, I don´t really know what this card is capable of.

Yes brons2, I would like more RAM, but seller does not offer any flexibility/changes. Same with Vista 64bit, except that I do not see any advantage (in my case) in going 64bit. On the contrary, I've read about problems caused by software not fully compatible with 64bit. Feel free to comment -...

Hello. I have been following this thread and as a result I am considering buying one of these pc's. The one I found is the s3445la, a model for sale in some countries in latin america (I live in Venezuela), and configured for "low cost" multimedia enjoyment. Processor: C2D E4600 (C) DC 2.4...

PS3: what about playing standard (NON blue ray) DVD`s?

I again tried my friend's PS3 with my current production SD DVD player. This time I made sure both HDMI's were outputting 720p to my LCD tv (1366x768). Please keep in mind that mi intention was to compare the image quality of SD DVD movies when played with the PS3 and with my current...

PS3: what about playing standard (NON blue ray) DVD`s?

Very good info, Opie... Now, please help me understand this. My tv is a Panasonic TC-32LX70, with a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Via component or HDMI, it can display 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p signals. Manual says that "these signals are reformatted for optimal viewing" - I guess...

PS3: what about playing standard (NON blue ray) DVD`s?

AFAIK the output is adjusted to what the TV can take..... although I have to confess that I am not 100% sure about this, as the manual does not have much/clear information about it.

PS3: what about playing standard (NON blue ray) DVD`s?

Thank you all for your comments and help. I had the chance to compare a friend's PS3 with my current production DVD player (with HDMI set to "auto -480p up to 1080p), both feeding my LCD tv (1366x768). To make a long story short: for watching SD DVD (my original question) I do not see a...
