Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Thanks Syntax Error. My main concern was that all the screenshots that I had seen before never showed these dips, but if other users' drives are doing the same thing, then I won't be concerned.
I am using the drive as the boot disk. The screenshot I posted is with the drive being about half full, and the results looked similar immediately after installing the OS as well.
I ran HD Tune on my new Intel X25-M 80GB G2 yesterday, and I'm getting some weird results:
In all the other screenshots I've seen with the X25-M, the results look like a consistent flat-line all the way across. I've ran the test several times, and they always look like my results above...
Thanks. The power management setting would be perfect if you could specify it by drive. Unfortunately, it isn't that granular (unless there's some registry trick that you can do), and it would turn off all of the drives, including the SSD.
The USB suggestion is definitely a thought, but I'd...
Since getting my Intel X25-M, I've really been enjoying how quiet my PC is. I planned on using my older hard drive to store pictures, music, etc., but I'd prefer that it not be running all the time. Is it possible to somehow set a specific drive to spin down after a period of inactivity?
I think I did solve the issue, although I don't understand why I had to do it. I switched the SATA cables for my SSD and CD-ROM drive from ports 0 and 1 on my Asus P6T to ports 2 and 3, and since doing so, the SSD is reporting correctly as Ultra DMA Mode 6. I'll have to keep an eye on it to make...
AVT - Thanks, I confirmed what you said. At least I feel better about that now. However, I still can't figure out why it keeps showing as running in PIO Mode 4. Did anyone else have to do something special after unplugging their hard drive and connecting their SSD, such as resetting the BIOS or...
Ugh, just found another issue. Supposedly Windows 7 should disable Disk Defragmenter when it detects an SSD drive is in use. Looked mine up, and it was still scheduled. I had to manually turn it off. What's going on here?
I forgot to mention that my BIOS was already configured as AHCI before the install of Windows 7. I previously had an SATA 2 hard drive connected to the same cable/port and did not have this issue.
Hello,
I just received my X25-M Gen. 2 drive today and installed it in my i7 920 Windows 7 system. After installing all the drivers (minus the Intel Matrix Storage driver, which I wasn't sure about), I looked in device manager and noticed that the X25-M was running in PIO Mode 4. I tried...
Thanks Brahmzy for the info you provided. Very helpful. I can also get the Vertex 60GB for almost the same amount. Although now you have me thinking about doing (2) Vertex 120GB in RAID 0. Dang it! ;)
