You're probably right. I suppose it's the safest bet. I'm not a hacker or a dorm-dweller but just out of desk space really. And this is not the room where I watch the movies, it's just the study where I work. I just need a simple monitor for when I need to control the computer from in here...
Thanks Godmachine, that's fantastic help.
I suppose you are right - I hadn't wanted to because the TVs are so much more expensive than the monitors.
So there's no monitors that will display the 24p image (even if it's not perfect)? I'm not fussed about the quality of the monitor in the...
I'm not prepared to do that because the frame rate goes funky and defeats the purpose of having Blu Rays in 24p. I get noticable jumps in the frames every now and then when watching at 60Hz. 24p is perfect, but cannot be displayed on my current computer monitor. What I need to know is will a...
Hello all,
I have the following setup in my home:
A HTPC in the study, feeding 24Hz (as defined by the ATI graphics software) out to a HDMI splitter whcih sends the signal to:
1. a stereo and LCT TV in the living room
2. an LCD TV in the bedroom
3. a stereo and PC monitor in the study...
Can I suggest that each time a person posts with details about the successes/failures of their monitors that they include the manufacture date, firmware update number, and which country you're in - otherwise it's relatively meaningless.
Some of the problems people are having have apparently...
One of the reasons that people will have had success turning off the overscan, and why they had to send their monitor away is because they got a new monitor manufactured with the overscan on/off already built in to it.
The monitors produced (in Australia (and I am beginning to think England...
No. They affect you regardless of which port you are using - they affect you depending on the signal you are using:
Graphics Signal: (From PC) is Ok.
Video Signal: (From video cameras, play stations, whatever) is cropped.
I don't think this will fix the problem (in some cases).
As far as I know, it is only Video Signals that get cropped (Play Station 3, Video Cameras, Blu-Rays, etc), regardless of which input you use (DVI, HDMI, etc).
I plugged my HiDef Video Camera into the monitor via HDMI -> DVI and it...
So is there anyone who has tested the newest version of the monitor with a Blu-Ray Player or a HD-DVD Player other than the PS3? If so, does it work at all?
What about playing it on a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD drive in your PC? Does that work?
Just spoke to a very helpful chap from Benq in Australia who told me a few things:
1) Overscan On/Off and 1:1 pixel mapping are available on all models produced May 2007 or afterwards in Austrlaia.
2) These options are available on HDMI & Component.
3) The monitor only has HDMI 1.1b but he...
djphatic,
can you please re-post the stauts of you rmonitor - yours seemed to be the only true success story I can remember seeing, but now it's lost. For that matter, anyone else that has any success stories, I'd appreciate the opportunity to read them again.
I was going to speak to BenQ...
I can't believe people are still considering purchasing this monitor.
I think this thread should be re-named DO NOT BUY THE BENQ 24" MONITOR.
It is a piece of rubbish that does not function correctly and BenQ are a bunch of liars who will refuse to accept responsibility.
DO
NOT...
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to swear on here so I'll just say that BenQ are lying, thieving bastards.
I've finally taken my minotor back, but not for a refund, for a credit note at the retailer. Here's my story:
I bought the monitor, got the firmware update, had all the standard problems...
