tbh, I am only interested in the performance INSIDE the case. the whole form factor and shape of the heatsink is designed to work in this particular SFF case (or very similar ones). comparing it to heatsinks that do not fit inside the case (or only at severe noise/modding effort) might be...
Official AMD statement:
"ECC works as long as the motherboard supports it, but it is not part of the official validation testsuite." (AMD reddit AMA)
That was back in March, assume it hasn't changed since.
Improved conductivity is cool (ha!) but in SFF cases, dissipation via surface area/fan power is the more limiting factor. Having said that, copper will help if the other factors are taken care of, so fingers crossed for Dan's tests!
That was already the case with his original design und still is the case with the versions from the survey; the main problem is that the channeling principle of this case (cold air in on the side, hot air out at the top/back) gets muddled with any type of raised side panel. Cut-outs in the...
AFAIK (and correct me if I'm wrong, please), there are no specific standards for graphics card dimensions, only for power draw. That's why you see a lot of standard ATX cases advertised as "Fits 300mm cards", it's like an extra feature. In this case, some manufacturers decided to go 3 PCI slots...
Version A looks great (even though it doesn't have the greatest temps)!
Not convinced of B both visually and functionally; for that, I'd prefer the original option C that illram also pointed out, BUT ONLY if it's reversible so you can have the cutout over the intake for blower-style cards.
A...
If you are using the C7, you can try shorter MB stand-offs (4mm) and replacing the stock fan with the Noctua A9x14. C7 tends to be quite noisy in this case regardless, tho, so check out the fan noise/performance chart that was posted in this thread a few pages back.
EDIT: Not sure if the C7...
Thanks for the tip!
I'm actually looking for something super basic in terms of peripherals on this occasion; planning to use the case as a mobile VR machine. When in use at my desk, I have a full setup right there.
Man, that looks really snug! So would you need a separate bag to transport peripherals or can you still fit a slim wireless keyboard/mouse combo in there somehow?
He wrote some time ago that he would need to keep a stash of side panels for potential RMA requests, so that's why he couldn't sell them separately for the time being. Can't find the exact quote, though.
