PlayStation 3 'Hacked' by Hardware Crackers

Unfortunately, Sony will likely disable usage of USB or implement some sort of signed-hardware-only fix over this. Sort of like they already disabled the ability to use a different OS. With the PS2, there was a USB device called CodeBreaker, much like a Game Genie, that allowed one to cheat in...

    Don't Buy Global Agenda - [H] Editorial

Now, I don't know if Global Agenda forces a fixed FOV regardless the users' aspect ratio or not - but it would seem to me that if they do, Eyefinity/multimonitor setups would actually be somewhat of a disadvantage. However, a larger, say 120° FOV, is an advantage over a "standard" 75-90° FOV...

networking.... can I have a private network at home using work group names?

It sounds to me like setting up a VLAN may be more of a pain in the ass than it's worth when user access permissions are designed to do exactly what you're describing.

EVGA RMA replacement a rip off?

Wow, Ogilvy the EVGA crusader. Parts die, all the time. Why do you care so much about what he might or might not have done? As foolish as the OP may look for how he's going about this, you look 10x more the fool for being such a jackass about it. No one is forcing you to be such a downer...

networking.... can I have a private network at home using work group names?

In the folder sharing properties you should be able to set access for specific users through Permissions button - but that is assuming Simple File Sharing is turned off. To turn Simple File Sharing on or off in Windows XP Professional, follow these steps: 1. Double-click My Computer on the...

    Copying DVDs to hard drive

By 'Xbox' do you mean a 360 or an original with XBMC? I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that XBMC could stream DVD .iso's.

    When will we embrace UT3?

I picked it up on release, and I'm still enjoying it. I think you people take it too seriously. If it's not your cup of tea, fine - you're just wasting your time hating on it.

    ASUS Maximus Formula @ [H]

Okay well I think I figured out the northbridge thing. Taking out my secondary video card (6600gt) dropped the NB temp by 8-9c. Figures. Pointing an Antec Spot-cool across the ram towards the northbridge dropped it by another 5-6c. Now staying steady @ 46c running Orthos.

    Keeping dust out?

One thing I've found is the thin Polyurethane Foam Air Conditioning Filter that comes in a roll you cut with scissors - can be found at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. You get enough for like 20 filters for just a few bucks, it's washable, and thin enough not to impede airflow too much while still...

    ASUS Maximus Formula @ [H]

Ahh thanks, I did not know about that. After Orthos and OCCT ran their course I was starting to think the memtest thing was a bug. I did find the awesome Maximus thread on XS, but my forum account has been in the activation queue for a couple days and I am unable to post yet. I didn't...

    ASUS Maximus Formula @ [H]

No waterblock. Northbridge is currently running @ 1.34v that I had to force as the board was letting it get to 1.6-1.7 and the temp was hitting 70c. Right now with the forced 1.34v running Orthos blend tests the northbridge temp is 62c, southbridge 56c. I'm running 4x1gb, and strangely...

    ASUS Maximus Formula @ [H]

Could some of you that are running these boards air-cooled post your NB temps please? Mine seems to be running hot - 58-60c just running memtest.

Valve Explains Lack Of OS X Support

That's a damn shame. A good portion of my early teenage years were spent playing Doom and Quake beta over IPX and Dwango - you guys should've learnt2network.

    NVIDIA nForce 680i Chipset Problems

I can attest to similar problems I had with the NF4 AMD series. The first NF4 I had was an ABit AN8 SLI that had a few problems, but most annoyingly was the tendency to crash when making heavy use of the onboard USB channels. Tried everything, nothing fixed it. Eventually found some others...
