Huh, I guess it must be this, then. Are you supposed to see IPS glow when viewing the monitor dead-on? No matter what angle/distance I look at it, I can't seem to get a pure black. Pretty noticable orange glow no matter what. It shifts, but it's always present somewhere.
Brightness set to 26...
Loving my display so far... First time I've owned an LCD, so I'm having a hard time telling what the difference between backlight bleed and IPS glow is. Biggest difference I notice coming from a CRT is that dragging things around on the desktop is a bit blurrier... in gaming I don't really...
I've got a non-functioning FW900 for parts/repair in Ann Arbor, MI. If anyone's interested, and can pick it up, send me an IM and maybe we can work something out.
Would be interested to hear more about this version as you use it more. Just how bad is the input lag introduced by the scaler?
Also, I don't really understand how it works technically, but is that input lag only in effect when something is being scaled? (i.e. if my computer is outputting...
BNC's working OK for me, but it seems to have a totally different color shift from the VGA. I guess maybe the input is to blame, but I'll just have to make a new color profile from the OSD. Very heavy green tint.
Best method for using multiple inputs with the FW900? I want to be able to easily switch between my PC and PS3. Are BNC->VGA cables reliable, or would I be better off using an external switch from the VGA input?
Yeah... Unfortunately something in it seems to be dying. It's also been a chore to even turn the thing on in the morning. The blue flashing is so bad at the start that the monitor turns itself off after flashing a few times (showing the orange LED by the power button after the screen goes dark)...
Anything I can do about blue flashing? Mine does it intermittently every 2-5 minutes. Could it be cable related, or is it more likely something on the inside needs fixing?
Edit: It started doing it out of the blue after about one year of ownership, I should add.
Ah, damn. That might be outside my ability to fix. Only spent $150 on the monitor itself, too... So I dunno. Maybe I'll sell it if it keeps acting up. Might be moving soon anyway, and god knows I won't be able to lug it with me. Thanks for shedding some light on the problem!
Umm... Anyone know what the FW900 making a soft pinging noise (sounds like tap on glass) combined with a horizontal line appearing on the screen might mean? Started happening today at random short intervals.
Previous problems I've had with the monitor include:
1. Heavy green cast, fixed by...
So I've owned my FW900 for a few months now and have been pretty happy with it. The only noticeable problem it had was a bit of a green tint to blacks/grays, which I remedied by lowering the green bias a bit.
Today however when I turned it on the whole screen had bright green scanlines on it...
Damn. If anyone has one of those email coupons to spare, I'd really appreciate it. At a price like that I think I could finally spring to get one of these monitors.
