John Carmack Says VR Devs Are "Coasting On Novelty"

I agree as its the main reason I have held off. I dont think all game genres translate over to VR well but I think certain genres would do good. I would have thought someone would have a fatal frame style game its very basic in the controls bu the story is what pulls you in.

    Damaged server - Need advice

You can get the button assembly for cheap your problem is the dented in case. If you plan on filling it with drives you need to either try bending it back as there is no room for that sort of dent when sliding the HD's in.

Confused by zfs pool size after creation

First all the zfs commands give different information. Does "zpool list" give you what you want to see. There is a long winded reason that "zfs list" takes into account all the internal metadata and private reservations and things of that nature. and such while "zpool list" gives you raw stats.

NAS connected to desktop using Ethernet crossover with PCIe 10 Gbps?

The options are when you get into NAT translation, firewall settings just to name a few but if you set this up correctly your slow down would be on the WAN side if you are using it as a router not the switching side from computer to computer

areca arc-1680 raid array goes missing - showing free drives instead - weird things..

Did you put the drives back in the original order you started with? If so you can always try running RESCUE. its a read only command nothing written to disk so its safe to run to see if it recovers anything. If it does it wont survive a reboot but there is ways to make it stick

I used to have the same thoughts as you on it. I was dead set on a storinator it had all my needs covered but once you start getting into the cost it was more money then it was worth. I think when I ran it it was something like 1574$ for the enclosure with a few components. For that much money...
