I think the Red model numbers are well known and documented in this thread. CrystalDiskInfo is one tool that will show you the model number before you shuck.
Pretty sure I saw someone post on Reddit that they put whites into a Synology NAS and they worked fine. I think it was a ds218+...
I had resisted these for so long, mainly because I don't have a NAS box yet, but I finally bit on two of the NESNs at $149. Both have EFAX drives and tested OK using the "Extended Test" included in the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics tool so I'm more than happy.
Now I need to go shopping for a...
My Omen has a build date of Sept. 2016. It does have a bit of back light bleed in the corners and 1 stuck pixel. In my opinion, the back light bleed looks much worse in the photo than it does to the naked eye.
It doesn't appear to me that my Omen has any significant banding either.
I've been trying to do some lag tests against a crt I still have laying around. Using the test at http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/response_time.php
My initial estimate of the input lag is about 39.22 ms (using the frame counter diff in the test) or 43.23 ms (using a best guess of the time diff in...
Add me to the list of those that hope AnandTech doesn't fade away. Like [H], there is a lot of good info on that site.
I first started visiting [H] about the time Sharky sold his site. SharkyExtreme, FiringSquad and so many others have become empty shells of what they once were (if they even...
One of the hardest things for me to grasp with this is, if I don't want my corporate data stored on users devices (mentioned several times in the vid) what makes you think I'm ok storing it in some third-party cloud?
Personally I think the 290 @$400 is going to stir the pot even further. AMD is being pretty aggressive with their pricing. Nvidia, not so much, but I expect they will adjust pricing in some form (albeit kicking and screaming) when sales numbers start trickling in.
With PhysX, better coolers...
The dust has yet to settle as there are a couple of "cards" left to be played :)
I expect to pick up a 280X or a 770 in the near future, but I don't need it today. I'll wait a few more weeks and assess the situation then.
Fab related jobs represent about half the employees at the Hudson site. The other half will reportedly not be impacted, at least by the job cuts.
Intel acquired the Hudson fab in 1998 from DEC as part of the StrongARM settlement, so the fab is actually older than that. Intel then put $800...
I had stuttering in Skyrim on the 13.4 drivers. After I finished the main quests several weeks ago, I started installing graphical improvement mods and also made several .ini performance tweaks, mainly related to better use of multi-core cpus. The stuttering went away and I haven't seen it...
