Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Set the monitor to match the room. Dimmer in a dark room, brighter in a bright room. As evilsofa mentioned, a bias light is the easiest way to make looking an a monitor more comfortable to look at.
I have a STH10, and would have bought the Mercury S8 if it were available at the time. Room for all components, two 360 rads on top, pump, res. I'm also a fan of the horizontal MB orientation. There's a lot of dead space -- and weight -- in my STH10.
Common to confuse DVI-D with dual link, double check that it has the full set of pins: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/fb/DVI_Connector_Types.svg/277px-DVI_Connector_Types.svg.png
Are you using the cable that came with the monitor?
If your video player downscales correctly you'll get supersampling with 4 pixels resolved down to one. It can look better than a 1080 source. Although the content creator could downsample and distribute at 1080 for the same effect with smaller filesize.
Haven't seen native 4K in person to...
I have a VG248Q (144Hz) and upgraded it with the GSync kit. I think both high refresh rate and Gsync are 'never go back' features. As in, once you've been gaming with them you don't want to play on anything else. Unfortunately, it's difficult to demonstrate the benefits without having the tech...
I don't have any personal experience between the two. If I were making the choice I'd go BenQ.
If you decide to buy one, get it from a store with a good return policy - you might not find this panel acceptable.
The 24" 144Hz screens are built for speed and decent image quality. If you want 1080p and GSync they are your only option. MistaSparkul is probably correct that these monitors use the same panel. The difference will be in price, manufacturer's reputation for customer service and quality control...
I had a few minutes at lunch and ran some videos in full screen with my VG248+Gsync...
The OSD reported it was in gsync mode and fraps' frame counter indicated 24 fps and 30 fps (matching the video). Didn't have time to try setting custom max refresh rates.
Does that pattern appear with different OverDrive levels? Different refresh rates? I've seen pictures of other monitors with this problem but not so extreme.
I'm not sure of the samsung's pixel response time versus the BenQ. When I went from the VG236 (2ms) to the VG248 (1ms), moving text became slightly clearer but the color quality isn't as good. Strobing tech is incompatible with FreeSync and Gsync as it requires a fixed refresh rate. The GSync...
The s27a750d is an excellent 1080p monitor, the only reason to sidegrade it to the XL2720Z is for a strobed backlight.
I also want to upgrade to 1440p and keep high framerates. I have decided to wait for the 390X and 980Ti to come out, then pair one with a FreeSync/GSync 1440p. Not sure if I'll...
