OpenZFS NAS (BSD, Illumos, Linux, OSX, Solaris, Windows + Storage Spaces) with napp-it web-gui

Hello, I'm curious if the following HBA would work for a ZFS pool? https://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-SAS9201-8i-PCIe-x8-6GB-Dual-SAS-Low-Profile-RAID-Card-H3-25268-45W9122/381858913319?epid=605061704&hash=item58e8909c27:g:Uj8AAOSwkXdaotmW I've been using ZFS for many years now, probably close to...

Broke my install of OpenIndiana. Need help fixing.

Thanks Gea. I tried the first 2. No go. I'm upset because I had a lot of system customization in Open Indiana. I guess I'll have to spring for a new raid 1 for my OS drive :( Also, I'm pretty sure I have a bad HD. My system was built using the old 512k sector drives. Any special drive I...

Broke my install of OpenIndiana. Need help fixing.

I broke my install of Open Indiana. It was in the middle of a scrub process for my array that was in a repair state and was going to take < 300 hours. So I decided I would just reboot the server to check the drive was plugged in properly because I fooled with the case a few days ago. When I...

You can try apcupsd. It works on OI but I could only get it to run with an APC ups. May need to get an apc ups if you so desire. Also, I found SambaExplorer worked for me, although slow and not a great interface

A bit distraught/discouraged. Need some suggestion and help

I don't think your user has "ownership" of the folders at this point. You need to log in as root because in the beginning root is the only user that has ownership of a folder. You don't need to mess with this either. I think your windows security box is because your user doesn't have the...

A bit distraught/discouraged. Need some suggestion and help

I fought ACL quite a bit my self. My biggest problem was that I had a capital in my windows username and a lower case in Solaris. I not using AD. Basically, follow the direction for the root piece then create the user in Napp-it. Then assign it to a group. Now connect to the share as root...

GEA, I know we go round and round on acl. It must be the second most discussed topic about zfs short of performance.;) I am wondering if its possible with Windows Home Premium to use windows credentials to log into my server instead of it prompting me on the share and typing the same password...

    Use ZFS storage on WHS2011?

I've done this. Your only choice is to serve up an Iscsi share or use esxi with nfs
