Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
On an unrelated note, are my screenshots insanely large? I'm using Jing/screencast to post, but I am new to using 4k as my desktop resolution and the screenshots look crazy big...
Yes, exactly. I struggled for a long time in determining whether this was a Realtek driver issue or Windows 10 issue or Dolby licensing issue. And thanks for the internal sound blaster card recommendation. It seems the cleanest fix. Still sad that a fix seems necessary.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure if this is the case with my problem though. Here is the file I am using to test in VLC: https://ia800406.us.archive.org/7/items/5.1SurroundSoundTestFilesVariousFormatsAACAC3MP4DTSWAV/5.1%20Surround%20Sound%20AAC%20Test.mp4
and here is the properties of the...
I think it depends on the function. Gaming in 4k is really not worth it yet because of the low frame and refresh rates available. For Movies and Streaming, I would say 4k w/ HDR is definitely worth it and looks amazing. For Photo Editing, having your display set to 4k w/ HDR would allow you to...
Good point--the whole deal is a bit messy. If I put this in, I have 2 cables, a spitter, and a power adapter + potential latency vs. 1 cable; if I put a sound card in, I have a clutter of audio outputs from my MB, GPU, and then sound card; or I buy another surround system with an HDMI input...
Thanks, I tried enabling this option, but still could not get surround to play in VLC. The mp4 test file plays the rear L R in front and doesn't play the SUB at all.
The reason I brought up the test in Windows' sound playback preferences was because I'm really confused on how it recognizes 5.1...
Thanks, that's about what I had concluded as well--it is just pretty unbelievable. This was an issue in the pre-release Technical Preview of Windows 10, which was almost 3 years ago...crazy that I've had to use simulated surround sound this entire time.
Each time I've come to this conclusion I...
Since upgrading to Windows 10, my surround sound has not worked.
My audio receiver has 2 inputs, optical & stereo phono, so my only option is using the optical for surround sound.
What I don't get is that Dolby Digital tests fine (see below).
This has dogged me for a long time and I cannot...
Apologies for posting to an old thread, but thank you for mapping this out so well.
I have been confused on this for about a year since I got a Samsung JS9000. I thought my GPU was holding me back, but I realized my R9 280's HDMI port didn't support HDMI 2.0. Today I received a mini displayport...
