    bizarre Vista Firewire copy problem

I've been running Vista since late Feb/early March without any trouble until my friend told me on his new computer I helped him build that he couldn't transfer files over firewire from an external DVD drive (an older LaCie). He is running Vista Home Premium 64 and I have Ultimate 64. I...

Wow gotta hand it to vista..

XP can fix it with a repair install or with the other repair features, but I've never seen it do anything in 15 seconds.

Not Getting my "wow" in Vista

    I've never seen it BSOD.

How many of you use Vista full-time (details inside)?

Been running Vista 64 full time for almost two months now and I really like it. Biggest issues are drivers for my sound card and nVidias drivers being crap. Also, Nero doesn't work and I've finally resolved to hunting down something that does work properly in Vista for burning CDs and DVDs...

How much RAM does your Vista (the system itself) use?

Funny, my eyes and Vista tell me otherwise on my 7950GT.

How much RAM does your Vista (the system itself) use?

Good point. I only used Solaris a bit in the past and I do recall something like that. Yes they are. Some gadgets (such as the calendar and a lot of the weather apps) expand when dragged off the sidebar.

Cool. I was wondering if you were going to have some components on individual cooling systems (like the hard drives, or RAM for example). If the cooling capacity for the whole system is good enough (and it looks like it probably would be) then having the hard drive tied in to the GPU, CPU etc...

How much RAM does your Vista (the system itself) use?

That's what I was figuring. Because that RAM is allocated but not necessarily used, that's why that amount plus the cached amount can be more than your total RAM, correct?

How much RAM does your Vista (the system itself) use?

Hmm I think I've been misreading the RAM caching system. I do have the little "Cached" entry in my Physical Memory monitor. It claims I have 2795mb cached (and 1.6GB has disappeared elsewhere). I guess I'm an idiot and need to read in to this more. Pulling up the Resource Monitor shows other...

How much RAM does your Vista (the system itself) use?

Of course it does. If you had a gig of RAM and SuperFetch had it filled, superfetch would let go of the RAM it was using for any program that demanded it. It's a background task and doesn't get in the way of what you're doing. I found Vista to be about equally responsive with 2gb as 4, which I...

How much RAM does your Vista (the system itself) use?

I'm not sure where you see that entry, I don't see a Cache entry in my task manager. At least I've confirmed what SuperFetch is using now after subtracting all the other ram usage. 1.25GB of my 1.53GB being used is Superfetch. The rest is system, firefox (about 100mb right now) and a...

Impressive work. I just skimmed all the pictures. Can you update your original post with more info on the design idea such as the number of radiators and what each one is for?

Suggestion for PC Case - Antec / Lian Li / Other

Look for the Plus or Plus II variation.

Lian Li V1000 vs. v1000 Plus & Plus II?

The regular has no side fan. The Plus adds a side blower fan that sucks air off the PCI card area and blows it out the back. The PlusII replaces the blower with a regular 120mm fan and blows out a mesh on the side of the case. I have the PC-V1100BPlus II and it's designed the same way.
