    Noted. Let N be the index of the first boot that didn't POST. Boot N-1: made it to windows loader or just before. Windows loader didn't display its progress bar. inbetween:swapped SATA cables on the boot drives. Boot N-2: booted into OS inbetween: unplugged one drive and plugged another...

    tldr: AND IT BOOTS !! I plugged an empty NTFS key on the usb port which got a burst of accesses when plugged, then one access every 5s. Then plugged a FAT usb key wayy after the system has started, and got 2+5 beeps repeating every 5s. Looking up the beep codes it seems to mean "xxxx.ROM file...

    Yes, I have tried an external vga card, and it still didn't post. Even if I were simply "blind", I should get at least one beep and fans shouldn't stay in low-rpm mode.
