Will spring on the M1015 locally here tomorrow afternoon (GMT) if noone chimes in before then. Itæs come down to a bit about 100 locally, and that's doable. Hopefully my quirky (as always with) Dell Poweregde t310 won't fret too much about the non-Dell part.
They really do? Well, that's nice. I aready have a reverse breakout cable on the way. Does Silicon image have any product specs on their website anymore? All old links reoutes to the front page, and navigating the sites for specs always sends you to a mail contact form. Would be nice to actually...
No, I need to connect 4 sata disks. :)
I have bought a reverse breakout cable, and we shall see - I have an old Sil-based card in my old fileserver that I can at least use for testing with the cable and backplane, even if it is pretty slow.
I'm also awaiting a reply from a guy on another...
Hm, was hoping to avoid that with some of the reviews I've read about it concerning I/O freezing.
Has anyone any thoughts about tha backplane issue, and if the converter cable and consumer board would give me any trouble?

Thanks you input though, I'll put it on my watchlist and see if it pops up on more local auction sites. I see it...
I recently got a Dell PowerEdge T310, planning to replace my aging random-parts-built home server. The Poweregde, however, came with a PERC 6/i card connected to the SAS backplane, and it is useless for me. It lacks any JBOD/TI-firmware etc, and also, it doesn't support 3TB drives - which I'm...
Does anyone run Solaris Express 11 with built-in ZFS-encryption?
I'd very much like to know how it performs compared to
openssl speed aes -multi [number of cores]
so I could have some idea of what performance or bandwidth constraint I'm going to get.
Wow, this guide and OP was a lot to take in for someone who has never dabbled more in virtualization than running VMWare or KVM/Quemo on a host OS for some few applications.
However, I've recently acquired a Dell poweredge t310 cheaply, and plan to use it s a replacement for my current...
