• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

    Hardware for VM hosting

I have 3 white box hosts running at home in my basement. CPU is generally not an issue, unless you have some specific use case. Two are i7-4770 and one is E3-1231v3. I have ran them in several configurations with several VM's, never a CPU issue.

remote access question, attention network gurus

Basically a box with KB, Mouse, and Video connection accessible through a network port. It would be the same as you physically being there on the computer.

8 port switch that wont fry

If it is that critical....I would be running redundant switches, NICs, and PSU's. Even if you go with a "cheap" switch, you could run two to help minimize any effects of a loss.

    i3, i5 or i7

I have Xeon, i7, and i5 systems in my lab. None of them have a CPU issue. The more concerning limitations are RAM and storage IOPS. Use SSD's and lots of RAM. As said above, the use cases will dictate what you really need in processing strength. My first virtual setup was i5, 16gb RAM, and...

Americans Still Prefer Landlines at Work

I think it just depends on your business and needs. I work for a large enterprise where communication is critical. We have great cell reception in our buildings. All of our larger buildings have repeaters on every floor. We have 3 ISPs for redundancy. Also several UPS's, and generators to keep...

Apple 'Failing To Protect Chinese Factory Workers'

This is the response I see from Apple, "it's wrong to have poor conditions, but we have no choice because our suppliers condone it." Translated, "We really don't care as long as our profits continue to grow and we keep enough legal separation."

ESXi 5.5. U1/2 hangs randomly at install time

I just built the setup listed below. When I went to load ESXi on it, I was having problems also. After some research, I found that people were having to update the BIOS, Even though it showed as the same version number and date. I re-flashed mine and now it works fine. -RaidMax CobraZ case...
