    Safe mode?

I experimented with the safe mode and DOS mode client during the original FC5-64 distributed.net days. I took a trip to another country with my laptop (A Pentium 75!) and would be off the net for 3 months straight. I did some calculations and queued up enough work units so that I would not run...

Just starting folding for the [H]

I also fold on my laptop, a Pentium-M 2GHz. Some work units are hotter than others, but in general I don't have much of an issue. The pause while on battery power is a must though unless you are never away from the wall for more than a very short while. Running folding at 100% can easily cut...

    Beowulf Clusters?

The script I use is based on "lw" by Fred Wheeler. I used this script back in the distributed.net days when it actually seemed they were not spinning their wheels aimlessly. His original post of this script is archived here: http://lists.distributed.net/pipermail/rc5/1997-October/033262.html...

    Beowulf Clusters?

The main workhorse of my points is a 16 processor cluster of 3.06GHz Xeons. I run individual processes on each node and have scripts to automatically shut them down when production work gets distributed to them. If they are really looking at a cluster version, I'd be interested. Currently...

    OCAU is Ramping Up

I removed the transproxy options and it still worked for both clients inside and outside since I have manually set the proxy within the client. Of course the clients inside the proxy's firewall couldn't get out so I had to change it back pretty quickly. I just had them download a core and a...

    OCAU is Ramping Up

Yeah, I'll change the config and try that tomorrow. I'll let you know what I find.

    OCAU is Ramping Up

I'm running Squid 2.5.7 currently. The only patches against it are the gentoo diff patches. I looked briefly though the diff file and didn't see much in there that would change squid's function significantly. It seemed to be mostly cosmetic and filesystem structure type patches. My config is...

    OCAU is Ramping Up

What's the problem with Squid? I assume you are talking about the Squid proxy? I pipe about 65GHz of F@H power through Squid (which I just moved to [H] btw) and have never had a single issue. Are you doing authentication with Squid, or just proxy/cache?
