This was happening to me last night. Resetting the NVRAM fixed it. After reading apple's description on NVRAM I don't exactly know why this worked, but it did.

Crysis = ~160w
3d rendering = ~155w
Idle = ~60w
All cores loaded = ~195w

What is the highest someone ever got on a 3000+ venice? I managed to get mine up stable at 2.7ghz on stock cooling and I can probably get even more out of it if I get better cooling.
^My guesses is that is it. I have a K8n Neo 2 platnium with a 3000+ venice also and cool n' quiet doesnt work for me either. I'll have a go at that other program, though....
