    Sorry, I think didn't explain myself properly. I know what can cause a power supply to fail, but I was wondering what makes the other components plugged into it fail. Is it to much current? Too much voltage? Something else? Hypothetically, let's say I were to place some quick-burn fuses...

    I work in a computer store. Sometimes, when a customer brings over a system with a blown power supply, other components have also fried (motherboard and/or hard drive most of the time). I'm curious as to what happened. Did those components get too much voltage? Shouldn't the fuse in the PSU...
