Yeah I roll my bass at 125Hz down because otherwise it's too boomy. Then I use the subwoofer control to tune it depending on my volume levels. Seems to be punchy and musical enough for me. Actually it took about 2-3 months for my sub to be fast enough for my liking.

Looking for a new monitor for my new PC I'm going to build. I've got an older Samsung right now and don't like the...
And my solution of trying to find an extra satellite is a bad one because...?
My brother has a huge amount of Z-540 satellites laying around. He's had two warranty calls on his. Need a couple?
If you've ever heard the 603's you'd probably take that statement back. 47Hz is where they start to roll off, but they do go quite a bit lower and are very much audible near 30Hz. Enough so that my room shakes and my dog starts to freak out (he hates thunder). It's not a boomy type of sound...
Just roll off the bass a bit and you're left with a decent set of 2.1's...seriously. I hate super-boomy bass. I want to chuck rocks at assholes with massive boomy subs in their cars. But the Promedia 2.1 are a respectable computer speaker.
I own the Klipsch 2.1's and they're good. My brother has the Z2300's and I prefer my Klipsch speakers for sure. They've definitely got a clearer sound. I find the Z230's don't sound upfront enough for my liking, and the mids are not as sweet.
I found the ProMedia's bass needed to be tuned a bit...
Ewww..I'd rather get a great set of stereo speakers for that price.
You'd be amazed what you can get out of a nice set of stereo speakers, and an older receiver. I picked up some B&W 603's and I'm never looking back. Totally hooked on high end audio now. I find I don't even need a sub with...
Sycraft stole the words out of my mouth. Definitely a speaker shielding issue. Hell you could see if you can find a single speaker that matches your set on ebay and see if that works.
What kind of set is it anyways?
It'll work, but not great. Like the guy above me said, they're meant to accept line-levels. You would need a pre-amp to boost levels, which generally are more expensive than a small practice amp anyways. I've spent over a grand on my pre-amp, but I'm a professional touring musician. A small...
I've got some Klipsch Promedia 2.1 that I like. They're very good for the price and I'm an audio nut. So by regular standards they probably sound amazing.
You gamers spend far too much on video cards (those with several graphics cards just laying about). Why don't you sell them on ebay or something, they're not gaining any value sitting on your shelves. ;)
When I get my new system (either Jan, or Feb) I'll probably pick up the 8800GT, and maybe...
