seen how the whole "CoreHack" is still alive and well in our folding team.. is OCN really the one to blame for this? I mean guys are maxing their i7 970, 980x, 990x, 3930k and 3960x and making the dead line on time, is it really their fault?
I know some of your 2P rigs are not making the...
you could have all the cores you want but if they are not OC they will be no good, we at OCN live and dream about Huge High OCs and that´s what we do best. you better hold on to your socks because we are coming [H]ard on you...
OCN Number 1 baby....
its all about efficiency and latencies. there is penalty for a program needing to communicate between core 0 and core 11 in a 2P system, where that penalty is almost none when its only between core 0 and core 5 in a single socket system..
basicaly what I am trying to say is this. the F@H...
its not me, its OCN as a group, I just fold SMPs with my 2500k.. ;)
but hey Pande is also denying people with 24 threads(2.5Ghz and under) of the bigadv-16 too...;)
you know why a sandyB E @ 4.8Ghz can make deadlines and 2.6 dual hex care are borderline? well because they don´t need special...
That´s true. there is alot of people at OCN doing them with SandyBridge Es, heck some fools are doing them with i7 970s but most barely miss the deadlins
sorry bout that buddy!. :(
can we ask Intel to make unlock server class CPUs?(with dual or quad QPI links) so we don´t need to upgrade each time PG does this?
Intel is to blame for that, they keep making powerful CPUs and faster than what Pande can adjust..
by the time bigadv-24 comes around there will be 8 core extreme systems, able to clock to 5Ghz and do them in no time just as these lowly 6 cores are doing them now..
well his TPF times are around 31 mins
again he is just compensating for his gain in performance with more threads that´s all.
well sorry if I upset you. I will no longer bring this subject again, I was just mentioning that some desktop CPUs are able to do this huge Wus... :p
but. but why? is he not doubling his performance by OCing his chip?
just use your math..
16 Threads(need it for BigAdv-16 Wus) at 2.5GhZ = a 8 Threads at 5GHZ
its not like he is keeping his cpu at stock clocks and faking more threads.
a fellow folder(we both fold for OCN) is doing the Bigadv-16 in 2.1 days with his high OCed 3930K, which is no surprice, this 6 core sandyB CPUs are awesome performers
yes... but they are DDR(double data rate) which means you need to use DDR card, they are more expencive than SDR InfiniBand Cards found on FleeBay for cheap...
